BPP members strongly believe in the power of leadership and advocacy for advancing the well being of border communities. Institutions that are strong and effective advocates for local issues are a pre-condition for effective advocacy for the entirety of the region. BPP supports its members in developing their institutional and individual leadership skills.
The BPP currently offers and is developing a variety of products to support members in developing institutional and individual leadership in their communities. One such program is:
Quality of Life Indicators Project – Good leadership is based on good decisions and good decisions are based on good data. Recognizing the scarcity of comprehensive data, particularly bi-national data, that otherwise could be utilized to tell the border’s real story and advocate for its actual needs, the BPP has launched a Quality of Life Indicators Project. The project will collect, synthesize, interpret and present data as a tool for better understanding the current and future trends in the region’s quality of life as a whole. This long-term project will support BPP and its members in developing more effective sustainable, long-term solutions to the challenges facing border communities both on the local and regional level. BPP members will have unique access to data and complimentary advocacy resources that are developed around the project.
The lead researcher on the project is Prof. Kimberly Collins California State University- San Bernardino. Related to this project the BPP has created and made available to its membership
